Men's Soccer Opens G-MAC Play with Win Over Northwood

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's soccer team opened conference play against the Northwood Timberwolves at DeHaven Field on September 8. The Oilers would continue their win streak with a 1-0 win after an early goal that would determine the match. Findlay now moves to 4-0-0 (1-0-0) for the first time since 2017, while Northwood falls to 0-3-1 (0-1-0).

The Oilers goal that would eventually win the match came in the 14th minute of the first half when senior Anton Graf served a ball that would find the head of senior Tom Middleham. Middleham would then flick the ball into the feet of senior Carson Oberski, who would put the ball into the back of the net to give the Oilers an early lead. Both Graf and Middleham would be credited for assisting on the goal.

The final 76 minutes saw the Timberwolves make several attempts to level the match, but all would fall short. The Oilers outshot the Timberwolves 15-6. They would also lead in corner kicks on the afternoon, 9-3 with seven of them coming in the second half of play.

Oberski led the Oilers in shots on the afternoon with five, paired with his second goal on the season in consecutive matches. Senior goalkeeper Ethan Hensley ended the match with one save.

The Oilers now look to Saturday, September 12 for their next match in Owensboro, KY as they take on the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers.
