#1 Oilers Fly Past Cardinals 83-58

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked first in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, defeated Saginaw Valley State University 83-58 on Thursday, December 4 in Croy Gymnasium for their first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) victory of the season. The win gives the Oilers a 4-0 record on the year with a 1-0 mark in the conference.

As a team, the Oilers shot 50.0 percent (28-of-56) from the floor which included a 9-of-18 (50.0) showing from the three point line. Findlay also out-rebounded the Cardinals 32-25 and forced 24 turnovers in the win.

Senior forward Josh Bostic paved the way for the Oilers by scoring 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting. He also added seven rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals.

Sophomore guard Nathan Hyde added 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting in his first career start while senior center Lee Roberts chipped in 11 points and six rebounds.

Sophomore forward Tyler Sparks came off the bench to add nine points, six rebounds and three assists while junior guard Marcus Parker pumped in nine points, seven assists and four steals.

Senior guard Tyler Evans also had a solid game for Findlay, scoring eight points in the victory.

Saginaw Valley State was led by Lawrence Ross who scored a game-high 20 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday, December 6 when they host Lake Superior State University. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
