#1 Oilers Crush Wildcats 96-47

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked first in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, crushed Northern Michigan University 96-47 on Thursday, January 15 in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the Oilers a 13-0 record on the season with a 9-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Findlay got off to a quick start by playing suffocating defense which led to a 10-0 lead at the 16:50 mark on a dunk by senior center Lee Roberts. Roberts then tacked on another dunk at the 1:51 mark of the first half, giving the Oilers an astonishing 47-12 advantage which they carried into the break.

The Oilers coasted to their 13th straight win in the second half as they shot 55.7 percent (34-of-61) from the field and held the Wildcats to a mere 26.2 percent (16-of-61) shooting clip.

Findlay also drained a season-high 11-of-24 (45.8%) three point shots and out-rebounded Northern Michigan 41-35.

Sophomore forward Tyler Sparks led the way with a career-high 19 points. He made all six of his field goal attempts, which included three triples, canned all four of his free throw shots and added five rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block in the victory.

Senior forward Josh Bostic tallied 17 points, eight rebounds, five assists and a pair of steals while Roberts scored 15 points to go along with six boards.

Roberts was also perfect from the field, hitting all seven of his field goal attempts in 21 minutes of action.

Junior guard Marcus Parker added nine points while senior forward Morgan Lewis chipped in eight as every Oilers player who dressed for the game scored.

The Wildcats were led by Marc Renelique's 11 points.

Findlay will be back in action again on Saturday, January 17 when they host Michigan Technological University at 3:00 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
