#1 Oilers Tame Huskies 83-69

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked first in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, jumped out to a 16-0 lead over Michigan Technological University within the first six minutes of the opening half and never looked back as they defeated the Huskies 83-69 on Saturday, January 17 in Croy Gymnasium. The victory improved the Oilers record to 14-0 on the season with a 10-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

As a team, Findlay shot 52.8 percent (28-of-53) from the floor and connected on 8-of-19 (42.1%) of their three point tries. They also forced 17 turnovers as the Oilers matched the 2001-02 team for the fastest start in school history with 14 straight victories to begin a year.

Sophomore guard Nathan Hyde led the team with 16 points as he made all five of his field goal attempts. Hyde also connected on four three pointers and a pair of free throws in the game.

Senior forward Morgan Lewis added 13 points, four rebounds and four steals while junior guard Marcus Parker chipped in 12 points and five assists.

Senior center Lee Roberts also reached double figures, scoring 11 points to go along with nine rebounds while senior forward Josh Bostic stuffed the stat sheet with eight points, seven rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block.

The Huskies, who shot 41.1 percent (23-of-56) from the floor, were led by Sean Geary's 17 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday, January 22 when they travel to Tiffin, Ohio to face Tiffin University at 8:00 p.m.
