Box Score The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked first in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, defeated Wayne State University 92-77 on Thursday, January 8 in Detroit, Michigan. The win gives the Oilers an 11-0 record on the season with a 7-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
The Oilers, who held a 48-30 advantage at the break, saw their lead trimmed to five in the second half before putting the Warriors away for good.
Senior All-American forward Josh Bostic led the charge with a career-high 31 points on 10-of-19 shooting. He also drilled 4-of-7 three pointers, hit 7-of-9 free throw attempts, recorded five rebounds and added three steals.
Bostic's offensive explosion marked the first time an Oilers player has topped the 30 point plateau since former All-American Dustin Pfeifer poured in 37 points in a 76-62 win over Hillsdale College in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament on February 28, 2006.
Junior guard Marcus Parker also had a spectacular game as he poured in a career-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting.
Parker also added five steals and four assists.
Senior forward Morgan Lewis and sophomore guard Nathan Hyde chipped in 11 points apiece while senior center Lee Roberts added eight points and ten rebounds during the win.
As a team, Findlay shot 50 percent (31-of-62) from the floor and drilled 9-of-21 (42.9%) of their three point shots.
The Oilers also forced the Warriors into 18 turnovers which led to 27 points for Findlay.
The Warriors ended up shooting 46.4 percent (26-of-56) from the floor and were led by Bryan Smothers' 24 points.
The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday, January 10 when they travel to Midland, Michigan to take on Northwood University. The GLIAC contest is scheduled to take place at 3:00 p.m.
