Box Score Canton, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's volleyball team fell short in an upset over the unbeaten Walsh, falling 3-2 (17-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-27, 15-8). With the loss Findlay falls to 9-3 on the season and 3-2 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. Meanwhile, Ohio Dominican improves to 5-6 on the year with a 2-3 mark in league play.
The Oilers took an early lead in the game by swiftly securing the first set with a score of 25-17. Nonetheless, after that, the match became a closely contested back-and-forth battle. Findlay would ultimately force a fifth set but Walsh would take a 7-1 lead, one that the Oilers were not able to recover from.Â
As a team, Findlay hit .200, racking up 59 kills and making 26 errors. Meanwhile, Walsh hit .288, recording 57 kills but making just 15 errors.
Leading the Oilers once again was freshman duo Hannah Miller and Kirsten Bomholt. Miller led the team in kills with 15 while hitting .275. Bomholt added 14 for the Orange and Black.Â
Middle hitter, sophomore Alana Pohlman had another dominating performance for UF. She recorded eleven kills while hitting .333. Sophomore Kenzie Hoelscher chipped in eight kills.Â
Running the offense was sophomore Emma White who racked up 44 assists. She also had a team-high ten digs. Junior Ava Doster also recorded ten digs.
The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow, Oct. 7 as they take on Malone at 12pm.
