Oilers in First at LeeAnn Noble Memorial | Break 36-Hole Program Record

All Oilers in Top-Ten

Dahlonega, Ga. – The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked fifth in the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division II rankings, traveled south this week to the LeeAnn Noble Memorial in Dahlonega, Ga. on Monday, Oct. 9. The two day, 54-hole event features eight nationally ranked teams including the Oilers, #7 Anderson, #11 Lee, #13 Limestone, #16 Wingate, #20 Lander, #22 Florida Southern, and #23 Western Florida.

Through 36 holes of play, Findlay finds themselves in first after shooting a two-round total of 573 (-3), setting a new program record. They recorded rounds of 290 (+2) and 283 (-5). This broke the previous record of 574 that was set just last month at the DBU Classic. The Oilers are nine shots ahead of the seventh ranked Trojans of Anderson heading into the final round.

All five Oilers are in the top-ten after day one.

Leading the Oilers once again is junior Mary Kelly Mulcahy. On a day when the average score hovered 77.51, Findlay's go-to player this year opened the day with a round of 70 (-2). She followed it up with a 71 (-1) for a 36-hole total of 141 (-3). Her score today ties the third best 36-hole score in program history.

After a breakthrough week at the William Beall Fall Classic, freshman Ashleigh Duflo has found her stride for Findlay. She is in second place individually after recording rounds of 70 (-2) and 72 (E) for a 36-hole score of 142 (-2). Duflo's score today is the fourth best 36-hole score in program history.

Sophomore Hayley Dye, junior Erin Mulcahy, and senior Gabby Woods are all tied for eighth after recording scores 146 (+2).

Quote from Head Coach Dominic Guarnieri
"Today, the team displayed unwavering resilience. Everyone contributed, and while we may have made a few silly mistakes, we refused to let them linger on future holes. I was very impressed by Erin [Mulcahy] really battled in the second round after an opening double bogey on her first hole. She is such a fighter and never gives in."

The Oilers will be back in action for the final round, tomorrow, Oct. 9. They tee off at 9:00 in a shotgun start.
