Denton, Texas- The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked fifth in the latest Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division II rankings, headed south for the DBU Women's Classic at Wildhorse Golf Club at Robson Ranch on Sunday, Sep. 17. The three day, 54-hole event features nine nationally ranked teams including #1 Dallas Baptist, #4 West Texas A&M, #6 Henderson State, #8 Indianapolis, #9 Tampa, #15 Barry, #19 Oklahoma Christian, and #24 Missouri- St. Louis. Findlay leads the loaded field after day one of the event.
Through 18 holes of play, Findlay holds a one-shot lead over Indianapolis. The Oilers recorded a round of 289 (+1). Nevertheless, the top of the leader board is tight, with the leading nine teams separated by a mere five shots.
Leading the Oilers on the day was sophomore Hayley Dye. Dye recorded an opening round of 70 (-2), her best round this season. She recorded four birdies and two bogeys on the round.
Junior Mary Kelly Mulcahy continues to be dependable for the Orange and Black. She recorded a 71 (-1) on the day. Mulcahy led the field in par-five scoring, averaging 4.25 (-3).Â

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow, Sep. 18 for round two. Findlay will tee off at 8:30am.
