Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay wrestling team, ranked 18th in the latest OpenMat rankings, took on the Mercyhurst University Lakers on Friday, Jan. 12 in Croy Gymnasium. The Lakers took an early lead and would come away with a 20-15 victory.

After a loss at 125 pounds, Findlay tied the match at 3-3 thanks to an 8-2 victory at 133 pounds by Gavin Ritter.

Trailing 9-3 through four weight classes, Findlay's Logan Sanom took on 19th-ranked Max Stedeford at 157 pounds. Sanom scored on takedowns in the first and second and picked up the riding time point to earn a 7-2 win.

A win a 184 by Andrew Knick made it 15-9, but a loss at 197 put the dual out of reach.

Despite a 20-9 defecit, sophomore Giulian Bodiu was dominant in the final matchup of the day. With 26 seconds remaining in the first period, Bodiu flattened out his opponent to earn a fall in just 2:34, scoring six for his squad late.
