Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay wrestling team, ranked #20 in the country, took on #17 McKendree in Croy Gymnasium on Saturday, Jan. 20 and fell by a final of 36-11.
After a loss at 125 pounds, Findlay's Gavin Ritter went toe-to-toe with Bearcats' Ryan Ripplinger, ranked #11 in the country at 133 pounds. Leading 2-1 late in the bout, Ritter recorded a near fall in short time, securing a 6-1 victory over his nationally ranked opponent.
The Roughnecks did not score again until the 165-pound battle when junior Gary Nilson dominated his opponent, Jordan Alcala, to the tune of a 19-0 tech fall victory. Sophomore Giulian Bodiu picked up a 5-1 decision at heavyweight to wrap up the dual.
Saturday was Findlay's final tune-up before the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship which will be held on Jan. 27 in Tiffin, Ohio. Findlay heads to the event as the defending conference champion.                       Â
