Farmington, Pa. - The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked second in the country, is playing host to the Intercollegiate at Nemacolin which is being held on the grounds of Nemacolin Resort in Farmington, Pennsylvania. The 54-hole event, taking place on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 21-22, is being played at Mystic Rock Golf Course and is playing at 6,092 yards for the women. As the day progressed, players couldn't complete all 36 holes before darkness set in, forcing play to stop early. Currently, the Oilers are in first place in the nine-team event at two-over par. Findlay posted an opening round 283 (-5) and are currently seven-over through 13 holes of the second round.
Leading the Oilers is senior Mary Kelly Mulcahy. The defending individual champion fired an opening round 65 (-7), the second best 18-hole in program history, just one shot shy of the record she set two weeks ago. She is even through 13 holes of round two. She is currently in first at seven-under, sitting two shots ahead of Tiffin's Lisa Marie Schumacher who is five-under par.
Senior Erin Mulcahy delivered the day's highlight with her first-ever hole-in-one on her third hole of the day. On the 153-yard par three, the Lima, Ohio native hit a seven-iron that landed seven feet short of the pin and rolled into the cup for a memorable hole-in-one.
E. Mulcahy is in a tie for fourth at two-over par. She opened the day with a 71 (-1) and is currently three-over par in round two. Freshman Gracie James is also tied for fourth. She carded a 75 (+3) in round one and is currently one-under in round two.
