Toccoa, Georgia- The University of Findlay women's golf team kicked off the Ralph Hayes Toyota DII Elite Invitational, Monday, Oct. 28 at the Currahee Golf Club. The Oilers face a stacked field at the event, boasting some of the biggest names in Division II golf. Findlay, who is ranked third in the latest WGCA Coaches Poll, faces seven other top-25 programs, most notably the top-ranked, and host of the event, Anderson University. They also face fourth-ranked Wingate University, sixth-ranked Lee University, eleventh-ranked Saint Leo University, thirteenth-ranked Lynn University, eighteenth-ranked Nova Southeastern University, and nineteenth-ranked Lander University.
Through 36 holes of play, Findlay is in fourth after shooting a two-round total of 579 (+3). They recorded an opening round of 293 (+5) before putting together a 286 (-2). They trail Anderson by nine strokes while sitting just two back of both Lynn and Wingate.
Leading Findlay was sophomore
Ashleigh Duflo who recorded rounds of 73 (+1) and 70 (-2). She is tied for eighth place at one-under par. Her 36-hole total of 143 is the seventh best score in program history. She is currently five back of the leaders who are six-under par.
Senior sisters
Mary Kelly Mulcahy and
Erin Mulcahy had strong performances, both finishing the day in the top-20. M.K. Mulcahy posted consecutive rounds of 72 (E), placing her tied for eleventh. E. Mulcahy sits one-over par, tied for sixteenth, after rounds of 73 (+1) and 72 (E).
