Tiffin, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's golf team earned its' first tournament victory of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the Kyle Ryman Memorial tournament hosted by Tiffin University at Mohawk Golf Club in Tiffin, Ohio. The Oilers, which led through 36 holes, fired a final round score of 288 (E) to win the event with a 54-hole score of 868 (+4). This victory is the first for the Oilers since the team won the G-MAC Championship Tournament last spring and is the first win at the Kyle Ryman Memorial since the fall of 2020.
The Oilers were led by sophomore
Colin Schadek who finished the event in fourth at two-under (214). His final round score of 73 (+1) bested the tournament average of 77.4 by more than four shots. Tuesday's round played the toughest of the tournament.
Junior
Luke Metzger secured a top-ten finish with a final round score of 68 (-4), tied for the lowest round by any player in the tournament. At one-over through two holes, Metzger birdied the par-three third hole and later made eagle on the par-five eighth. He shot a two-under 34 on his back nine, as well, making birdies on his final two holes to secure his spot at T7 with a 218 (+2).
Freshman
Cahle Roth and junior
Zach Miller rounded out the scoring for the Oilers, finishing T10 at 219 (+3). Roth shot 75 in the final round while Miller posted an even-par 72.
