Richmond, Ky. – The University of Findlay men's golf team opened competition at the Findlay Spring Invitational at Boone's Trace National Golf Course in Richmond, Kentucky. The 54-hole tournament features a strong national field, including No. 25 Wayne State, No. 35 Missouri–St. Louis, No. 42 Missouri S&T, and No. 43 Hillsdale.
The Oilers held the lead for most of the day, posting rounds of 285 (-3) and 277 (-11) to sit four strokes ahead of second-place Missouri–St. Louis. Their 11-under second round marks the team's second-lowest score of the season.
Junior Colin Schadek paced Findlay with an impressive performance, carding rounds of 70 (-2) and 66 (-6) to finish the day at 8-under par and in sole possession of first place. Schadek totaled 12 birdies across the two rounds.
Sophomore Cahle Roth added a steady showing with rounds of 69 (-3) and 71 (-1), placing him at 4-under and tied for sixth overall.
Freshman Ross Dietz continued his consistent play, shooting rounds of 72 (E) and 70 (-2). Senior Luke Metzger recorded rounds of 74 (+2) and 70 (-2), while senior Zach Miller rounded out the lineup with scores of 74 (+2) and 71 (-1).
Competing as individuals, junior Jacob Marohn posted rounds of 75 and 76, and freshman Luke Siefker turned in scores of 78 and 75.
The Oilers will return to the course on Monday, March 24, to finish the last 18 holes of the event.
