Pittsburg, Kansas – The University of Findlay track and field team's wrapped up their indoor campaign on Saturday, March 9, the final day of the 2024 NCAA Division II Indoor Championship. The event was hosted by Pittsburg State University at the Robert W. Plaster Center in Pittsburg, Kansas. Findlay's women ended the event in a tie for 12

th place finish back in 2017. The men also had a solid showing, finishing in a tie for 22
nd in the country.
Findlay's top performance on Saturday came from senior
Josh Verhoff. In the men's 200m dash, Verhoff, running in the first of two heats, clocked in a time of 21.14 which was good for runner-up in the event. Twice a second team all-American in the event, Verhoff, the Oilers' record-holder in the event, can now add first team honors to his trophy case.
Attempting to defend her national championship in the women's shot put from last year's indoor meet, junior
Trista Fintel proved she is still one of the best in Division II with another first team all-American performance. The Deshler, Ohio native launched a throw of 15.34m (50'4") on her third toss which was good enough for a third-place finish. It is the tenth women's shot put all-American award for Findlay in the past ten seasons.
In the women's 4x400 relay, the Oilers made some program history, setting a new school record in the event. The team of
Taylor Ivory,
Mary Ellis,
Jordan Taylor, and
Kylie Ray flew around the track to finish the event in a time of 3:44.31. That time was good enough to win the second heat and ultimately placed the squad in seventh. This is also the first time since 2014 that Findlay has had a women's 4x400 team earn all-American status in the indoor season.
Earning second team all-American status for Findlay was senior
Alex Mutchler who competed in the pole vault. The Bucyrus, Ohio native cleared a height of 5.14m (16'10.25") which was good enough for tenth in the event. This is Mutchler's first all-American honor of his career and is the third consecutive year in which Findlay has had an all-American in pole vault in the indoor season.
Findlay will get the outdoor season started on Friday, March 29 when they head to the University of Cincinnati for the Oliver Nikoloff Invite.
