Saint Louis, Mo.- The University of Findlay women's golf team is in second after day one of the UMSL Spring Invitational. The event is hosted by Missouri- St. Louis at the par 71, 5,800 yard, Norwood Hills Country Club. The Oilers, ranked third in the nation, recorded rounds of 295 (+11) and 288 (+4) on Sunday, April 14. They trail the fifth ranked, Greyhounds of Indianapolis by six strokes.
Leading the Oilers and the tournament is junior Mary Kelly Mulcahy. The Lima, Ohio native recorded rounds of 72 (+1) and 67 (-4). She is tied with Indianapolis' Anci Dy who also finished the day three-under par. M.K. Mulcahy's 36-hole score of 139 (-3) ties the 36-hole program record which was set by Makenzie Torres in 2018 at the Dayton Invite.
Senior Gabby Woods, the reigning G-MAC Athlete of the Week, is tied for third at one-under par after rounds of 71 (E) and 70 (-1). Junior Erin Mulcahy is also in the top-ten as she is tied for eighth at eight-over par. She recorded rounds of 76 (+5) and 74 (+3).
The Oilers will conclude the UMSL Spring Invitational tomorrow, April 15 with a shotgun start at 9:30am.
