#4 Women's Golf Wins Findianapolis Intercollegiate | Woods Wins Title

Laconia, Ind.- The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked fourth in the country, picked up their second win of the spring season on Tuesday, April 2, winning the Findianapolis Intercollegiate. The event, which the Oilers co-hosted with Indianapolis, was held at Chariot Run Golf Club. The three day, 54-hole event featured seven teams including the sixth-ranked Greyhounds.

Findlay won the event with scores of 291 (+3), 289 (+1), and 291 (+3) for a combined score of 871 (+7).  The Oilers won the tournament by an impressive sixteen strokes. This is their fourth win of the season, adding to their wins at the UIndy Invitational, the DBU Classic, and the Findlay Spring Invite.

Leading the Oilers was senior Gabby Woods. The Sabina, Ohio native recorded rounds of 69 (-3), 71 (-1), and 68 (-4) to take the individual title by six strokes. Her 54-hole total of 208 (-8) establishes a new 54-hole program record, breaking the previous record which was set by Jill Schmitmeyer at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial in 2021. The win is the seventh of Woods' career which ties the record for wins by a UF women's golfer in the NCAA era. This is Woods' first win since she won the NCAA Division II East Regional last season.

Junior Mary Kelly Mulcahy finished runner-up to Woods, recording rounds of 72 (E), 68 (-4), and 74 (+2) to finish the tournament at two-under par. Sophomore Hayley Dye finished tied for fifth, carding rounds of 73 (+1), 75 (+3), and 73 (+1) to finish at five-over par.

Woods, M.K. Mulcahy, and Dye earned all-tournament honors with their performances.

Quote from Gabby Woods
I thought we played well as a team this week. For the tough conditions we had to endure, especially the stopping and starting with the weather delays, we had a great mindset. That is what makes us who we are. Personally, I felt really good about my game leading into the week. I really just took it one shot at a time, knowing that I could capitalize with the course layout. A few holes set me back but I didn't let it get to me, knowing there were more opportunities out there. I knew the weather was going to be a challenge today so I just made sure I had a positive, steady mindset. Thw in today was great and having my family there made it even more special. I knew my time was coming, I just had to stay patient and trust my abilities.  We head to Georgia next week and I firmly believe in our team to do the same thing next week while continuing to get better. As that is our goal everyday, we see it adding up each week. I am excited to see what the rest of the spring has in store.

The Oilers will now look to defend their title at the North Georgia Bracket Challenge, April 8-9 in Homer, Ga.
