Homer, Ga.- The University of Findlay women's golf team headed south this week for the University of North Georgia Bracket Challenge. The event which began Monday, April 8, is being held at the 6,107 yard, par 72, Chimney Oaks Golf Club. The tournament is being played in a bracket format, utilizing medal match play. The medal match play format consists of five matchups as players go head-to-head. The winner of a match is determined by total strokes and the team that wins at least three matches, declared the winner. The Oilers won their quarterfinal match against North Georgia's B Team before play was suspended due to darkness in the semifinal round which pitted the Oilers against North Georgia's A Team.
In the quarter finals, Findlay, the number one seeded team, took on the eighth seed, North Georgia "B". The Oilers won three of their five individual matchups to advance to the semi finals.
Leading off the day was junior Erin Mulcahy who picked up the win after recording a 74 (+2) to take her opponent down by eleven strokes. She was followed by sophomore Hayley Dye who also recorded a 74 (+2) to win by six. Junior Mary Kelly Mulcahy won the third and final point for the Oilers, picking up a twenty shot victory after recording a 73 (+1).

After the win in the quarterfinals, the Oilers advanced to play North Georgia's A Team in the semifinals. Findlay is leading three of their five matches through fifteen holes.
