#3 Oilers in Third | Woods Tied for Lead at DII National Championship

Winter Garden, Fla. - The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked third in the country according to the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), continued play at the 2024 Division II National Championship which is being held at Orange County National – Panther Lake in Winter Garden, Florida, near Orlando. With one round of stroke play remaining, the Oilers sit in third on the team leaderboard with a 578 (+2) following a round of 290 (+2) on Thursday, May 22. The team's 36-hole score is the best through two rounds at a national championship in program history.

Findlay is seeking a spot in the top eight after tomorrow's round as that would cement the team with a position in the medal match play portion of the event. Medal match play pits a player on one team against a player from the other, one on one. The lowest score between those two players earns a point for their team. All five players in the lineup play and the most points wins the match and advances.

On Wednesday, senior Gabby Woods was the headline as she put together the best 18-score at a national championship by a Findlay player in program history and has herself in a tie for the lead with one round to play. Woods used four birdies and an eagle to get to three-under through 13 holes. The Sabina, Ohio native would birdie her final two holes to post an 18-hole score of 67 (-5), the second-best single-round score in school history and tied for the best 18-hole score relative to par. That score gives her a two-round score of 138 (-6), the lowest 36-hole score in the history of the program.

Moving up two spots in the individual standings is junior Erin Mulcahy who sits in T25. E. Mulcahy was rock solid, making 15 pars, a pair of bogeys, and a birdie on her way to a 73 (+1), her second consecutive 73. She is tied with her sister, junior Mary Kelly Mulcahy, who shot 74 (+2) on Wednesday and also has a two-round total of 146 (+2).

Freshman Ashleigh Duflo is tied for 38th on the individual leaderboard with a 148 (+4) after shooting 76 (+4) on Wednesday. Rounding out the lineup was sophomore Hayley Dye who shot 76 (+4) and sits in T73.
