Schadek Wins Al Watrous Invitational | Team Finishes Fourth

Saginaw, Mich.- The University of Findlay men's golf team concluded the Al Watrous Invitational Sunday, Sep. 8. After holding the overnight lead, the Oilers finished fourth in their opening tournament of the fall season. Findlay recorded a day one score of 288 (E) before following it up with a 303 (+15) today for a 36-hole score of 591 (+15).

Sophomore Colin Schadek won the individual title with rounds of 68 (-4) and 73 (+1) for a 36-hole total of 141 (-3). He bested Wayne State's Max Leppelmeier by one stroke. This is Schadek's first collegiate win.

Findlay also sent a "B Squad" to the event. That team finished fifth, just five strokes behind the "A Team". They recorded scores of 304 (+16) and 292 (+4) for a 36-hole score of 591 (+20.)

The "B Squad" was led by freshman Tate Armstrong who finished in eleventh place at two-over par.

Honestly, today was pretty disappointing for us. We've got to learn from it and move forward. We need to work on believing in ourselves, committing fully, and taking no shots off. The Oilers will be back in action Sep. 16 and Sep. 17 for the Hillsdale Fall Invite in Plymouth, Mich.
