Richmond, Ky.- The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked fourth in the country, finished runner-up at the Findlay Spring Invitational which was hosted in Kentucky by the Oilers at the par 72, 6,080 yard, Boone's Trace National Golf Club. The Oilers posted a final-round 295 (+7) on Tuesday, March 18. With previous rounds of 287 (-1) and 286 (-2), they finished seven strokes behind the tournament champions, top-ranked Anderson Trojans, who completed the event at three-under par.
Leading Findlay was senior
Mary Kelly Mulcahy who finished tied for second. The Lima, Ohio native recorded rounds of 70 (-2), 71 (-1), and 71 (-1) for a 54-hole score of 212 (-4). Anderson's Kennedy McGaha won the event with a 54-hole score of 2014 (-12). This is Mulcahy's second consecutive finish inside the top-5 this spring. With her finish, Mulcahy was named all-tournament team.
Junior
Hayley Dye also played well for the Orange and Black. She carded rounds of 71 (-1), 70 (-2) and 76 (+4) for a 54-hole total of 217 (+1). She finished in a tie for fourth, good for a spot on the all-tournament team. Sophomore
Ashleigh Duflo concluded the tournament at five-over par, good for a seventh place finish. Senior
Erin Mulcahy moved eight spots up the leader board on the final day thanks to a round of 72 (E). She tied for eighth at six-over par.
Findlay's 'B Team' finished the event in fifth, in a field of fourteen.That squad was led by junior
Ellie Yeazell and freshman
Avery Thompson who both finished tied for twelfth at eight-over par.
The Oilers will be back in action on March 31 as they travel to Laconia, Ind. for the Findianapolis Intercollegiate which they co-host with the University of Indianapolis. That event will take place at Chariot Run Golf Club.
