Slow Start for Men's Golf at Findianapolis Intercollegiate

Laconia, Ind.- The University of Findlay men's golf team, ranked fifth in the latest NCAA Midwest Region rankings, had a challenging opening day at the Findianapolis Intercollegiate, finishing 10th in the 10-team field after the opening 36 holes, Monday, March 31. Co-hosted by Findlay and the University of Indianapolis, the tournament is being held at Chariot Run Golf Course in Laconia, Indiana, a par-72 course measuring 7,169 yards. Battling cold and windy conditions, Findlay recorded back-to-back rounds of 298 (+10).

Findlay is led by junior Luke Metzger who is currently tied for seventh at even par. The reigning Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Athlete of the Week carded rounds of 73 (+1) and 71 (-1).

Sophomore Colin Schadek posted rounds of 76 (+4) and 74 (+2). He is tied for 28th at six-over par.

The lower half of the leaderboard remains competitive, with just six strokes separating tenth place from fifth. The Oilers will wrap up the tournament on Tuesday, April 1, aiming to climb the standings at the Findianapolis Intercollegiate.
