Laconia, Ind. – The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked No. 4 in the latest Women's Golf Coaches' Association (WGCA) poll, leads through 36 holes at the Findianapolis Intercollegiate which is played March 31-April 1. The event, which Findlay is co-hosting with the University of Indianapolis, is being played at Chariot Run Golf Course in Laconia, Indiana, a Par-72 course playing at 6,166 yards. No. 21 Missouri-St. Louis is the only other nationally ranked team in the field, but all ten teams in the field are ranked in the top 20 in the latest East Region rankings.
After two rounds of play, the Oilers hold a 20-shot advantage over Missouri-St. Louis. Findlay posted scores of 293 and 297 to end the first day at 590 (+14).
Sophomore Ashleigh Duflo tied the low round of the day, firing a 71 (-1) in her first round. In that 18-holes, she made three birdies and just two bogeys. Her second round began with a double bogey, but Duflo birdied two of the next three holes to get back to even par. She would finish with a 73 (+1) and currently sits at the top of the individual leaderboard at 144 (E), two shots in front of senior Erin Mulcahy who is in second.
E. Mulcahy shot 72 (E) to start the day before a 74 (+2) in her second 18 holes. E. Mulcahy leads the field in Par 4 scoring at even par and ranks third in Par 5 scoring at -1. She currently resides in second on the leaderboard with a 146 (+2) for the day.
Freshman Gracie James is just three shots off the lead after rounds of 73 (+1) and 74 (+2). James made and eagle on her penultimate hole of the evening and heads into her final round in a tie for third at 147 (+3).
Junior Hayley Dye and senior Mary Kelly Mulcahy are each tied for 12th at 154 (+10). Dye fired a pair of 77s (+5) on the day while M. Mulcahy shot rounds of 78 (+6) and 76 (+4).
Competing as an individual, Ellie Yeazell is in fifth after rounds of 76 (+4) and 74 (+2).
The third and final round will be played tomorrow, April 1.
