Columbus, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked No. 5 in the latest Women's Golf Coaches' Association (WGCA) national poll, played the first of two days at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational on Saturday, April 12 in Columbus, Ohio. The event, hosted by Ohio State University, is being played on Ohio State's Scarlet Golf Course, a par 72 layout playing at 6,319 yards this week.
The Oilers find themselves in eighth place after 36 holes of play after rounds of 319 (+31) and 306 (+18) for a two-round total of 625 (+49). The field consists of 13 teams, 11 of which are NCAA Division I programs. The only other Division II team in the field is Grand Valley State, ranked No. 10 in DII. Michigan State, ranked No. 25 in the country, rounds out the nationally ranked teams in the field.
Ohio State University, ranked No. 17 in the NCAA Division I poll, leads the tournament after one day at 585 (+9).
Senior
Mary Kelly Mulcahy led the way for the Oilers on a day where scoring was a challenge. Mulcahy opened with a 79 (+7), but rallied with a 74 (+2), the best round by a Findlay player all day. She sits in T16 overall at 153 (+9).
Sophomore
Ashleigh Duflo and junior
Hayley Dye each are tied for 30
th at 157 (+13). Duflo put together rounds of 78 (+6) and 79 (+7) while Dye shot 81 (+9) before coming back with a 76 (+4).
