Florence, Ind. - The University of Findlay men's golf team was back in action on Wednesday, Apr. 23 for the match play portion of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) championship. Findlay, who concluded stroke play in first place, would face off against second place Ohio Dominican. The Panthers would ultimately sweep medal match play, winning by a score of 5-0. With Ohio Domincan's victory, this marks the fifth G-MAC champion in the last five years.
The Oilers came out firing during the first two days of play, as sophomore
Colin Schadek would finish stroke play even par to secure the school's first ever G-MAC individual title. Along with Schadek, senior
Tyler Vallee finished up stroke play with a six under 65 in the third round, securing him the course record at Belterra Golf Club.
The Panthers were looking to play their best golf in the medal match play portion of the championship, and they would do just that. After only having one round under par in the first three rounds of play, Ohio Dominican would fire off three rounds under par in their match-up against the Oilers. Findlay would not be able to keep up with the hot play, dropping all five matches of the match.
