Findlay, Ohio - With the winter season now complete, the Learfield Directors' Cup standings have been released, ranking the University of Findlay athletic department 13th in the nation with 375.00 points. This marks the program's highest winter ranking since 2018 when it reached seventh. Points are awarded based on an institution's performance in Division II postseason competition, with teams earning points only if they qualify for the NCAA tournament.
"We take great pride in seeing the University of Findlay ranked among the top athletic programs in the country," said Director of Athletics Jim Givens. "This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, and support staff who continue to raise the standard of excellence.
With 16 swimmers qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Championships—nine in individual events and seven as part of relay teams—Findlay delivered an outstanding performance on the national stage. The Oilers earned eleven individual All-American honors, including four first-team and seven second-team selections. Additionally, the women's team secured All-American status in four relay events, contributing to a total of 15 top-16 finishes. Their efforts led to a program-best ninth-place finish, adding 69 points to the Directors' Cup standings. The men's swim team, featuring eight national qualifiers, finished 21st and contributed 53 points.
In track and field, 17 Oilers competed at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships, producing ten All-American performances. The highlight came in the women's 4x400m relay, where Findlay earned a historic runner-up finish. The women's team placed 18th overall, adding 56 points to the Directors' Cup, while the men's squad finished 49th, contributing 23 points.
The Oilers are the highest ranked team in the G-MAC with Ashland being second in the league at 14th in the country. Findlay ranks third among schools that make up the traditional Midwest Region (GLIAC, GLVC, G-MAC), trailing Grand Valley State who leads in the standings and Lewis.
Every year since 1995, the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup has been awarded to the year's best athletic institution and with 300 schools vying for position, a top finish requires success across all competing teams.Â
