Men's Golf Concludes Year with Fifth Place Finish at NCAA Super Regional

St. Joseph, Mo.- The University of Findlay men's golf team concluded their season on Saturday, May 10, at the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Super Regional. The Oilers finished in fifth place, just two strokes behind the fourth and final qualifying spot for the NCAA Division II National Championship. They posted rounds of 298 (+14), 286 (+2), and 285 (+1). Advancing to the National Championship were Central Oklahoma, Missouri-St. Louis, Missouri S&T, and Central Missouri.

Junior Luke Metzger led the way for Findlay, finishing fourth overall with rounds of 74 (+3), 69 (-2), and 68 (-3). The Mason, Ohio native's strong performance kept Findlay in contention and gave him a shot at qualifying for the NCAA Division II National Championship as an individual. With two individual spots available, the tournament champion earned the first, while Metzger and Ohio Dominican's Yadhu Urs tied for the second, setting up a playoff. Both players birdied the first playoff hole, then matched pars on the second. On the third playoff hole, Urs sealed the final spot with an eagle, narrowly edging out Metzger.

Sophomore Colin Schadek earned a share of 12th place, finishing at one-over par with rounds of 74 (+3), 71 (E), and 69 (-2). Senior Tyler Vallee also secured a top-25 finish, shooting consistent rounds of 72 (+1) across all three days to tie for 19th at three-over par.
