Oilers Tied for Sixth After Round One of National Championship

Colorado Springs, Nev.- The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked fifth in the country by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), got things started at the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championship which is being held at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada, near Las Vegas. Through one round of play, the Oilers are in a tie for sixth in the team standings after posting a 288 (E). 

Findlay is tied with #2 Wingate who also shot a 288 as a team. #1 Anderson and #7 Cal State, San Marcos lead through the first of three stroke-play rounds with a 280 (-8) while #3 Flagler is in third after a round of 281 (-7). Dallas Baptist and Cal State, East Bay are tied for fourth after rounds of 285 (-3). After 54 holes, the top eight teams will make the medal match play portion of the event, earning a shot at the national title.   

Fresh off her victory at the NCAA Division II East Regional, Ashleigh Duflo carried her momentum into the opening round of the National Championship. The sophomore turned in a flawless performance, firing a bogey-free three-under 69 to finish the day tied for seventh place.

Senior Mary Kelly Mulcahy also delivered a strong showing, carding four birdies on her way to an even-par 72. She is tied for 29th. Close behind was fellow senior Erin Mulcahy, who posted a solid one-over 73 through the first 18 holes and is in a tie for 35th.

Hayley Dye finished her round on a high note. After a slow start on the front nine, the junior rallied with four straight birdies to close out a two-over 74.

Ellie Yeazell rounded out the Oilers' lineup, highlighted by an eagle during her round, finishing with a five-over 77.
