Pueblo, Colo.- On Saturday, May 24, the University of Findlay's men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship at the ThunderBowl on the campus of Colorado State University-Pueblo. The women's team delivered a strong performance, finishing 15th with 17 points, while the men's team did not place, failing to secure any points.
Saturday- Day Three Finals
- Colleen Steinmetz (Fr.)- Making her first ever appearance at an NCAA National Championship, Steinmetz tied for tenth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.92m. With her finish she earns second team all-American status.
- Brooke Coulter (Sr.)- Wearing the Orange and Black for the final time, Coulter placed twelfth in the shot put with a throw of 14.49 meters, earning second-team all-American honors.
- Leah Smith (So.)- After setting a personal best in the preliminaries, Smith placed fifth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.32. Her performance earned her first team all-American honors in the event.
- Eyan Wilson (Jr.)- Wilson placed 19th in the shot put with a throw of 16.57 meters, achieved on his third attempt.
- Kylie Ray (Sr.)- One of the most accomplished track athletes to come through Findlay, Ray earned a runner-up finish in the 400m hurdles with a personal best and program-record time of 57.72. She finished just 0.84 seconds behind the national champion, narrowly missing out on the title. With her performance, Ray secured first team all-American honors.
- Women's 4x400 Relay- Teaming up in their final race of the season, Taylor Ivory (Sr.), Leah Smith (So.), Jordan Taylor (Sr.), and Kylie Ray (Sr.) took fourth in the event with a program record time of 3:33.72. In one of the tightest races of the meet, the Oilers earn first team all-American honors.
This concludes the outdoor track and field season.
