Softball Headed to NCAA DII Playoffs

Findlay, Ohio – On Monday morning, May 5, the University of Findlay softball team sat together and watched as the 2025 NCAA Division II Softball Championship field was announced. After dropping out of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament on the second day of play, the Oilers, which had been seeded third in the region in the latest poll, still boasted a resume that was among the best in the region with a record of 33-14.

When the Midwest Region was called, the Oilers heard their named called as the fourth seed, earning a trip to the NCAA tournament for the second time in program history. Findlay is matched up in the first round against the five seeded Drury Panthers out of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). The tournament will begin on Thursday, May 8 in University Center, Michigan.

Junior first team all-G-MAC performer Annika Bredel said, "I wouldn't want to be here with any other team. We genuinely love each other, care about each other, and work hard for each other. We will play hard in these games knowing its' a privilege to play again, knowing our season isn't over and I think we'll make the most of it."

Opposite the Oilers and Panthers is the host Saginaw Valley State which will play the eighth-seeded Ferris State Bulldogs. The four-team double-elimination tournament will conclude on Saturday, May 10 with the winner advancing to play a best-of-three series against the winner of the region's other pod that includes the host (2) Tiffin taking on (7) Indianapolis and (3) Hillsdale vs (6) Lewis.

Head Coach Dani Lowe commented, "I feel excited. I feel like we are ready for this next step. I feel like we can win. We have the talent on the field, we are gritty, we set a goal and we fight for it."

The NCAA DII finals will be held May 21-28 at Frost Stadium at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
