Allendale, Mich. - The University of Findlay women's golf team was back in action on Tuesday, May 6 for the second round of the NCAA Division II East Regional. Now having completed 36 holes, the Oilers remain in second place after shooting a second round 296 (+8) following an opening round 296 (+8) for a 36-hole score of 592 (+16). Findlay will head into the last day of play four strokes behind leader Grand Valley State.
After finishing the first 18 holes in a tie for second,
Ashleigh Duflo fired another 71 (-1) to take the solo individual lead heading into day three.
Hayley Dye also finished with a strong day, recording 17 pars on her way to shooting 73 (+1).
Ellie Yeazell was not far behind, shooting a three-over 75, heading into the final day in sixth place.
Rounding out the lineup is
Mary Kelly Mulcahy and
Erin Mulcahy, who both finished with five-over rounds.
The Oilers are looking to complete the comeback tomorrow in order to secure their fourth straight regional title. Round three will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, May 7. Teams that finish in the top five will punch their ticket to the NCAA Division II National Championship which will be hosted in Las Vegas, Nev. at Boulder Creek Golf Course.
