St. Joseph, Mo.- The University of Findlay men's golf team is currently in twelfth place at the NCAA Division II Midwest/ Central Super Regional, which wrapped up day one today, Thursday, May 8. The three day, 54-hole event is being held at the 6,596, par 71, St. Joseph Country Club hosted by Missouri Southwestern State University. The Oilers recorded an opening round 298 (+14) and currently trail leader Central Oklahoma by 18 strokes.
Leading the way for Findlay was senior Tyler Vallee. He recorded an opening round 72 (+1) and is currently tied for 13th. The Loveland, Ohio had an up-and-down round as he recorded two eagles, three birdies, five bogeys, and a triple. Central Oklahoma's Jordan Wilson leads the event at three-under par.
Junior Luke Metzger and sophomore Colin Schadek are tied for 29th after carding a round one score of 74 (+3).Â

The top four finishers at the tournament will earn a trip to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida for the NCAA Division II National Championship. The Oilers aim to reach the National Championship for the second time in program history, having made their first appearance in 2022.
The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow, Friday May 8. They tee off starting at 10:30am.
