St. Joseph, Mo. - The University of Findlay men's golf team was back in action on Friday, May 9 for the second day of action in the NCAA Division II Midwest/Central Super Regional. Starting the day in twelfth place, the Oilers battled back and climbed all the way to a tie for third place after 36 holes of play. While Central Oklahoma leads the pack nine strokes ahead of the rest, second through tenth place is separated by just eight shots.
Leading the Orange and Black on day two was
Luke Metzger, as the senior shot a two-under 69 to place himself in a tie for eighth place with seven other golfers. The junior, currently sitting at one-over, is five shots behind the leader.
Also with a strong showing was
Colin Schadek, who finished the second round with a score of 71 (E). The sophomore currently sits in seventeenth place with a score of three-over.
Tyler Vallee would continue his solid play, once again coming in with a one-over 71 to bring his score to two-over through 36 holes.
Rounding out the Oilers lineup is
Cahle Roth and
Brady Gazarek. Roth would finish his day with a 74 (+3), while Gazarek finished with an 80 (+9).
The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow, Saturday, May 10 for the last 18 holes of play. They will be looking to maintain a position in the top four and secure a trip to the Division II National Championship in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Findlay will begin to tee off at 12:50 pm.
