Still the Standard: Oilers Overpower G-MAC/MEC Championship Meet Yet Again

Canton, Ohio - The University of Findlay swimming and diving program continued its' dominant run in 2026, capturing both the men's and women's Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) / Mountain East Conference (MEC) Championships on Friday, Feb 13 at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio. It is the fourth consecutive year and sixth time since 2018 that both squads have earned conference titles in the same year.
The four-day meet wrapped up on Friday with the Orange and Black once again proving to be the standard in the pool. In the meet, 38 swimming events took place, 19 on both the men's and women's side. Of those 38 titles awarded, 33 went to the Oilers with the men pickup up a clean sweep and the women winning 14-of-19. Findlay's men have now won 80 consecutive races dating back to the final day of the 2022 conference championship.
Findlay's men, ranked ninth in the country, finished with 1,905 points to claim a ninth consecutive championship, winning every title since joining the league back in 2017-18. It is the longest streak of championships by any school in any sport in Great Midwest history.
The Oilers' women, ranked 13th in the country, have four consecutive conference titles and have re-established themselves as the unquestioned leader in the conference having won six conference titles in the past nine years.

Quote from Head Coach DIego Santos

It was a very exciting week. But it all started back on August. We were able to set the standard from the beginning. We knew other teams kept getting better and stronger, we know they want to beat us, but at the end of the day, we knew it was up to us.

This week, the team showed up big time. We had a few ladies that's were battling some injuries, and they showed everyone what being a team player is about. Emily Mears-Bentley and Sophie Busby went out there and over and over pushed through a lot of pain and put their season on the line simple because they care so much about their teammates and wanted to do their part.

We had such an amazing group of people this year and I'm beyond proud of what they accomplished and how they did it. We aren't done yet. Now it's time to make noise at NCAAs and continue making history.

Along with the two team titles and 33 individual titles, the Oilers are coming home with more hardware.
