Bloomington, Ind. / Ann Arbor, Mich.- The University of Findlay track and field teams continue traveling across the country for "Last Chance Meets" as they look to hit qualifying marks for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championship. On Friday, May 8, the Oilers competed at both the Billy Hayes Invitational, hosted by Indiana University, and the Len Paddock Open, hosted by University of Michigan.
Billy Hayes Invitational
- Lauren Sattler (So.) finished 14th in the 1500m run with a time of 4:29.68.Â
Len Paddock Open
Men
- Charlie Schmiesing (So.) took third in the discus throw with a mark of 53.32m, meeting the NCAA Provisional Standard. That is the 21st best mark in Division II this season.
- Leyton Nossa (Sr.) was runner up in the hammer throw with an NCAA Provisional Standard mark of 63.06m. That mark is shy of the ninth best Division II mark that he set at the Hillsdale College Tune-Up earlier in the year.
- Collin Warner (Sr.) came in eighth in the hammer throw with a throw of 58.00m, reaching the NCAA Provisional Standard mark.
- Owen Ackerman (So.) won the high jump with a clearance of 2.05m, just meeting the NCAA Provisional Standard.
- Alex Mutchler (Sr.) took second in the pole vault with a mark of 5.16m, reaching the NCAA Provisional Standard. His best mark of the season came at the Great Midwest Championship when he hit 5.22m, good for 12th in Division II this season.
- Evan Combs (Fr.) came in sixth in the pole vault with an NCAA Provisional Standard height of 4.91m.
- Panashe Chavi (Fr.) finished ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.91m, an NCAA Provisional Standard.
- Eyan Wilson (Sr.) came in third in the shot put with an NCAA Provisional Standard throw of 17.45m. His best mark of the season still stands at 17.71m which he set at the Virginia Challenge, good for the 13th best mark in Division II this season.
Women
- Taylor Aldredge (Fr.) took third in the high jump with a mark of 1.64m.
- Ashley Sigmon (Sr.) came in sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.59m.
- Colleen Steinmetz (So.) won the pole vault with a mark of 4.18m, meeting the NCAA Provisional Standard. She improved her previous mark of 4.13m which she set at the Virginia Challenge. Her mark today is the fourth best in Division II this season and second best in program history.
- Erin Moran (So.) came in fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.78m.
- Jessica Hoban (Sr.) finished third in the triple jump with an NCAA Provisional Standard distance of 12.03m.
Findlay will be back in action, Saturday, May 9, as they compete at the Lee University Last Chance in Cleveland, Tenn.
