Big Rapids, Mich. – The University of Findlay men's golf team concluded the NCAA DII Central/Midwest Regional, hosted by Ferris State University at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.
The three-round event wrapped up on Saturday, May 9 at Katke, a course that is playing 6,967 yards this week and is a Par 72. Findlay concluded the event in a tie for 13th with a 54-hole score of 891 (+27) after a Saturday round of 290 (+2) which was their best of the tournament.
Junior Colin Schadek delivered the standout performance of the day for the Oilers, and one of the best rounds in the entire field, firing a final-round 68 (-4) to climb all the way into a tie for 28th at +5 overall. That round was tied for the lowest of the day by any player in the tournament. Schadek got off to a scorching start on the front nine, posting birdies on the 3rd, 6th, 7th, and 9th holes. Despite three bogeys on the front, he still turned in a 34 (-2). On the back nine he stayed steady until a birdie-birdie-par-birdie finish on holes 15-16-17-18 posting another 34 (-2) and capping a solid round.
Sophomore Cahle Roth put together another very round, carding an even-par 72 to finish tied for 33rd at +6 overall. Roth mixed in two birdies while keeping mistakes to a minimum, just two bogeys on the entire card, to post matching 36s on each nine.
Senior Luke Metzger posted a 74 (+2) and placed T50 at +9 overall. Senior Zach Miller shot 76 (+4) to finish T73 at +13. Freshman Ross Dietz rounded out Findlay's countable scores with a 78 (+6) and T89 at +19.
