Oilers Beat Battlers 2-0

Philippi, WV – The University of Findlay women's soccer team bounced back from their first loss of the season with another win, this time against the Alderson Broaddus. The Oilers shut out the Battlers with a final score of 2-0 on Thursday, October 4. The win improves Findlay to 8-1-2 on the season with a conference record of 7-1-2. The Battlers move to 1-11-0 and 1-9-0 in conference play.

The Oilers came out shooting with six shots taken between freshmen Olivia Frank and sophomore Shannon Marsh in the first 20 minutes of the half. Olivia Frank was able to find the back of the net in the 22nd minute to give the Oilers a 1-0 lead. The Oilers defense was able to hold the Battlers to just two shots in the first half.

In the second half, Findlay only took four shots, but Senior Megan Kupetz made one of those shots count to increase the lead to 2-0. She took the shot 20 yards out from an assist by sophomore Shannon Marsh in the 61st minute of the match.

The Oilers were able to keep Alderson Broaddus scoreless until the clock ran out with junior Anna Money in goal. She made three saves in the victory.

The Oilers will be back on the road for another G-MAC match up against Davis and Elkins on Saturday, October 6. The match is set to begin at 2:30 PM.
