The University of Findlay women's volleyball team has earned a trip to the 2023 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Women's Volleyball Championship for the seventh consecutive season and will enter the tournament as the fourth seed. The eight-seed tournament begins on Tuesday, Nov. 14 with four quarterfinal matchups. The top four teams will advance to the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 17, hosted at the highest remaining seed. The 2023 G-MAC Champion will be crowned on Saturday, Nov. 18.
Findlay's quarterfinal game will be played Tuesday at 7:00pm EST and pits the Oilers against the Northwood University Timberwolves out of Midland, Mich. Since the 2005 season, the two teams have faced each other on twenty occasions. The overall historical record is evenly divided at ten wins for each team. Notably, in the last ten matchups, Findlay has dominated with an impressive 8-2 record, winning 26 sets to Northwood's 13.

Findlay Oilers (22-7, 15-4 G-MAC) | #4 Seed
2023 Findlay Volleyball Coaching Staff
At the conclusion of the regular season, the Oilers hold a 22-7 (.759) record with a 15-4 (.789) mark in conference play. Findlay, who is ranked ninth in the NCAA Midwest region, enters the tournament as the fourth seed.
The Oilers are at the forefront of the conference for kills, averaging 12.97 per match. They also top the conference charts in opponent kills, holding their competition to just 10.32 per set.
Offensively, UF is led by freshman duo Kirsten Bomholt and Hannah Miller. Bomholt is averaging 3.27 kills per set, coming in at sixth in the conference. Meanwhile, Miller is chipping in 2.87 per set. Sophomore Lauren Foerster remains a threat as she has averaged 2.89 kills per set in the last two contests, while hitting .358 on the week.
Sophomore Emma White remains at the forefront of the Oilers offense. The setter is attaining an outstanding average of 10.54 assists per set, the top figure in the conference. She has amassed 1,159 assists this season, the sixth most in Division II.
Findlay's middle hitters maintain a strong presence at the net. Sophomore Kenzie Hoelscher boasts the third-highest hitting percentage in the league with an impressive .353 average. Additionally, she takes the lead in blocks for the team, with an average of 0.79 per set. Sophomore Alana Pohlman contributes an average of 2.28 kills per set while hitting .318.
Under the leadership of head coach Wick Colchagoff, Findlay has yet to secure a conference tournament championship. However, in 2017, the Oilers achieved the status of Co-West Division G-MAC Regular Season Champions. Prior to that, they claimed the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) South regular season title seven times. Their best run at the tournament title was in 2018 where they fell in the G-MAC Tournament Final to Hillsdale. Since then, Findlay has failed to make it past the quarterfinals.
About the Opponent – Northwood Timberwolves (18-12, 13-6 G-MAC) | #5 Seed
2023 Northwood Volleyball Coaching Staff
The Timberwolves enter the tournament with a 18-12 (.600) record on the season with a 13-6 (.684) mark in conference play. This is Northwood's third consecutive G-MAC tournament appearance since joining the conference in 2021.
In the conference, Northwood holds the third position in kills, maintaining an average of 12.61 per match. Additionally, they limit their opponents to only 10.45 kills per match.
Sophomore Sydney Hasenfratz spearheads the team's efforts. With a season hitting percentage of .360, she holds the second position in the conference. Additionally, she ranks third in kills per set, boasting an average of 3.43. Notably, as an outside hitter, Hasenfratz leads the team in blocks, accumulating an impressive total of 115 this season and securing the 23rd rank in Division II.
While Hasenfratz is quite dominant for the Timberwolves, it is important to note that senior Kiana Martens is averaging 2.77 kills and 0.67 blocks per set. Junior Olivia Ott is also contributing with an average of 2.09 kills per set.
Sophomore Renee Brines runs Northwood's offense, averaging 10.51 assists per match, the second-highest in the conference. Her 1,114 total assists ranks thirteenth in the nation.
