North Canton, Ohio – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) announced its' selections for the 2024 lacrosse all-conference teams on Thursday, May 2 following the semifinal games of the Great Midwest Women's Lacrosse Championship which is being hosted by Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio. Findlay, which is the second seed in the tournament, held six all-conference spots including three first-team selections and three second-team selections. The Oilers also took home two major awards as
Olivia Bakowski was named Goalkeeper of the Year and
Tessa Chuba was named Attacker of the Year.
Goalkeeper of the Year (First Team All-G-MAC) - Olivia Bakowski
For the third consecutive year, the Oilers have earned G-MAC Goalkeeper of the Year, this year in senior
Olivia Bakowski. The Buffalo, N.Y., native appeared and started in all 17 matches for the Orange and Black, accruing an 11-6 record for the year. This season, Bakowski ranked third in the conference with 138 saves and was second in the league, among goalies that faced at least 170 attempts, with a save percentage of .430.
This season, Bakowski was twice named G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week, earning the award on March 4 and April 15, respectively.
Attacker of the Year (First Team All-G-MAC) - Tessa Chuba
After earning Freshman of the Year last season, Chuba remains a standout for the Orange and Black. Chuba finished atop the conference in goals per game (3.38), second in shots per game (6.00), and sixth in points per game (4.44) to lead Findlay's offense. Chuba recorded a standout game against Tiffin on April 17 in which she recorded a career-high seven goals. She would later earn G-MAC Offensive Player of the Week for her performance, an honor she earned three times this season.
In total, Chuba scored 54 goals and had 17 assists on the year, earning starts in 16 games. She recorded a shots-on-goal percentage of 82.3%.
First Team All-Conference
Joining Olivia Bakowski and Tessa Chuba on the first team is sophomore defender Brinlee Barry. She appeared and started all seventeen games for Findlay, recording 25 ground balls and twelve caused turnovers. This is the second all-conference award of her career.
Second Team All-Conference
Earning her third consecutive second-team selection is junior Erin Kodger who, this season, started in all 17 games for the Oilers, picking up 30 ground balls and causing 21 turnovers. The Hilliard, Ohio native also recorded 17 goals and six assists for a total of 23 points this season.
Senior Madeline Shewbridge earned a second-team spot, helping lead the team offensively. She scored 17 goals on the season, adding a team-high 33 assists for a total of 83 points. Her 1.94 assists per game ranked second in the conference. Senior defender Kaylee Ellis earns second team all-G-MAC after tallying 14 ground balls and six caused turnovers.
