Track & Field Concludes NCAA DII Outdoor National Championships

Emporia, Kan.- On Saturday, May 25, the University of Findlay's men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championship at Francis G. Welch Stadium, located on the campus of Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. The women's team had a strong performance, finishing seventh with 28.5 points, while the men's team secured 21st place with twelve points.

Day Three Results
  • Josh Verhoff (Sr.)- The Kalida, Ohio native finished runner-up in the 200m dash with a time of 20.64. He was just 0.26 seconds behind Pittsburg State's Dapriest Hogans who won the event. The highest finish of his career, Verhoff earns all-American honors.
  • Trista Fintel (Jr.)- Earning her third consecutive all-American honor in the shot put, Fintel finished third with a mark of 15.60m which came on her sixth attempt. The Demler, Ohio native fell short of the title by just 0.22 meters (8.66 in.), with Grand Valley State's Erika Beistle securing the victory with a throw of 16.82 meters. This is her best finish at the Outdoor Championship in her career.
  • Kylie Ray (Sr.)- After finishing seventh in the event last season, Ray took third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 59.01. She was  just 1.62 seconds behind the national champion, Angelo State's Fatoumata Kabo.
  • Leah Smith (Fr.), Taylor Ivory (Jr.), Kylie Ray (Sr.), Jordan Taylor (Sr.)- The team finished sixth in the 4x100m with a time of 45.51, earning all-American status in the event. 
  • Kylie Ray (Sr.), Jordan Taylor (Sr.), Mary Ellis (Fr.), Taylor Ivory (Jr.)- The squad came in seventh in the 4x400 with a time of 3:45.68.
  • Alex Mutchler (Sr.)- With a mark of 5.10m, the Bucyrus, Ohio native finished eleventh in the pole vault.
    • Conner Douglass (So.)- Making his first appearance at the national meet, Douglass finished fourteenth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.95m. 
The women's seventh-place finish at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championship is their best since 2016, when they placed sixth. This also marks the second-highest finish in program history.
