Findlay Records Several Top Finishes on Day One of PSU National Open

State College, Pa.- The University of Findlay track and field teams are in action at the PSU National Open, a two-day event hosted by Division I Penn State at the PSU Multi-Sport Facility and Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. Competition began Friday, Jan. 31.

Notable Finishes
Women
  • Victoria Harvey (So.)- Won the pole vault with a mark of 3.95m, meeting the NCAA provisional standard.
  • Tru Buddenberg (So.)- Finished third in the pole vault after clearing 3.80m, eclipsing the provisional mark.
  • Colleen Steinmetz (Fr.)- Came in fifth in the pole vault, posting a 3.65m mark.
  • Jordan Taylor (Sr.)- Finished fourth in the 60m prelims with a time of 7.49 before finishing fourth in the finals with a time of 7.50. Both times meet the NCAA provisional standard.
  • Kylie Ray (Sr.)- Came in ninth in the 60m hurdles prelims with a provisional time of 8.64, narrowly missing a spot in the finals.
    • Finished sixth in the 400m final with a time of 54.78, also meeting the provisional standard. Her time is the fourth best time in Division II this season and marks a new program record.
  • Leah Smith (So.)- Finished 15th in the 60m prelims with a time of 7.70.
  • Mary Ellis (So.)- Came in 15th in the 400m with a time of 56.73.
Men
  • Nathan Buschur (So.)- Won the pole vault with a mark of 5.06m, surpassing the NCAA provisional standard. His performance ranks ninth in Division II this season.
  • Leyton Nossa (Jr.)- Took sixth in the weight throw with a throw of 19.00, meeting the provisional standard.
  • Chris Campbell (Sr.)- Finished seventh in the long jump with a distance of 6.86m.
  • Collin Warner (Sr.)- Came in eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 18.04m.
  • Jordan Foster (Sr.)- Came in 12th in the mile with a provisional standard time of 4:07.33.

The Oilers will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 1 as they conclude the Penn State National Open.
