The University of Findlay women's volleyball team has advanced to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Playoffs for the ninth time in program history.
The NCAA Midwest Regional, hosted by top-seeded University of Missouri–St. Louis, will take place December 5–6 inside the Mark Twain Building. In this win-or-go-home tournament, the fifth-seeded Findlay Oilers face the fourth-seeded Wayne State Warriors of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in the quarterfinal.
The Game
Wayne State and Findlay share a long, storied history dating back to their years together in the GLIAC. Since 2005, the Warriors and Oilers have been locked in a tight series, splitting 24 matchups evenly at 12 wins apiece over the past two decades. This matchup marks their first meeting since 2023, a contest that featured 13 players who remain on the current rosters—six from Wayne State and seven from Findlay. In that most recent meeting, the Oilers swept the squad from Detroit, Mich. inside Croy Physical Education Center.
The match features a clash between two seasoned head coaches—Wayne State's Tim Koth and Findlay's Wick Colchagoff—who bring more than 60 years of combined experience, each surpassing 30 seasons on the sidelines. While Colchagoff has spent the bulk of his career guiding the Orange and Black, Koth's résumé includes stops at Eastern Michigan, Northwood, and Quincy before settling in for the past 12 seasons with the Warriors. Notably, Koth earned GLIAC Coach of the Year honors this season.

2025 Findlay Volleyball Coaching Staff
The Oilers, who secured an at-large bid, return to the NCAA Regional for the second straight season and the ninth time in program history. Unlike a year ago, however, Findlay stumbled down the stretch, dropping two of its final three matches, positioning the team as an underdog heading into St. Louis.
Findlay is averaging 14.71 kills per set, a mark that ranks sixth nationally in Division II and second in the region behind Missouri- St. Louis. The Oilers also boast one of the nation's top hitting percentages at .281, the best in the Midwest. This season, they have produced three matches with a hitting percentage of .400 or higher and 14 matches at .300 or better.
The Oilers' top two outside hitters, seniors Makenna Belcher and Lauren Foerster, will make their NCAA Tournament debut this year after missing last season. Both first-team all-conference selections, Belcher has been a dynamic and consistent force for Findlay, recording 384 kills, an average of 3.92 per set, the fourth-highest mark in the region, while hitting .276 and contributing 2.38 digs per set. Belcher set a career-high with 27 kills against Central Missouri on Sept. 13, while her season-high in digs came with 18 at Cedarville on Oct. 4. Foerster has also been a key contributor, averaging 3.11 kills per set with a .334 hitting percentage and adding 39 blocks. She posted a season-high 22 kills against Rockhurst on Oct. 18 and added a season-best five blocks at Tiffin on Oct. 3.Together, they provide a powerful and balanced offensive attack for the Oilers heading into the regional.
Findlay's middle hitter, senior Alana Pohlman, makes her second trip to the tournament after leading the Oilers to the Sweet Sixteen last season. Earning second-team all-conference honors, she is chipping in 2.54 kills per set on a .343 clip, the ninth-best in the region. The Oilers, who have faced challenges at the net, are anchored by Pohlman, who leads the team with 61 blocks on the season, averaging 0.67 per set.
Junior Hannah Miller provides versatility for the Orange and Black, splitting time between outside hitter and libero.
Senior Emma White, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Player of the Year, orchestrates the offense as one of the region's top setters. The four-time first team all-conference selection, averages 11.82 assists per set, ranking third nationally, and has totaled 1,158 assists this season, placing her fourth in the region. White surpassed 5,000 career assists in the Great Midwest Semifinal, becoming just the third player in program history to reach the milestone. The Tiffin, Ohio native has recorded 15 double-doubles (assists and digs) this season. Also a threat at the service line, White is averaging 0.49 aces per set, the most of any player in the tournament. Defensively, she adds steady production with 2.67 digs per set and 262 on the year, making her a complete presence on the court.
Findlay has won at least one match in five of its last seven NCAA Tournament appearances but will face one of the strongest Wayne State teams in more than four decades.

2025 Wayne State Volleyball Coaching Staff
The Warriors are brimming with hope and confidence as they prepare for their first NCAA Regional appearance in four years, fresh off their first conference championship in program history. The Flat Rock, Mich. native has tallied 421 kills this season, ranking fifth in the region, while also averaging 4.62 points per set, fourth in the region. She was also named the GLIAC All-Tournament Team MVP after hitting .402 across three matches, recording 42 kills on 92 attempts with just five errors.

She has amassed 1,134 assists this season, ranking fifth in the region and fourth amongst players in the tournament.
