The University of Findlay women's volleyball team has advanced to the NCAA Division II Volleyball Playoffs for the ninth time in program history.
The NCAA Midwest Regional, hosted by top-seeded University of Missouri–St. Louis, is taking place December 5–6 at the Mark Twain Building. In this win-or-go-home tournament, fifth-seeded Findlay defeated fourth-seeded Wayne State of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in the quarterfinals and is set to face the Indianapolis Greyhounds of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) in the semifinals.
The Game
The two teams meet for the second time this season, but much has changed as both squads have made adjustments over the past 49 days. Since 2005, the Oilers and Greyhounds have faced each other nine times, with Findlay holding the historical edge at 6-3. Their most recent matchup came at the Midwest Region Crossover in mid-October, where Findlay came out on top, winning 3-2.
The Round of 32 match also features a contrast in coaching experience, pitting Indianapolis' Haley Case against Findlay's Wick Colchagoff. Colchagoff, in his 32nd season on the sidelines, goes up against Case, who is in her first year as a head coach. But Case is no stranger to the spotlight—she was a three-time All-American and a national champion at Wheeling University.

Findlay Oilers (24-5, 13-2 G-MAC) | #5 Seed
2025 Findlay Volleyball Coaching Staff
The Oilers, who earned an at-large bid, return to the NCAA Regional for the second consecutive season and the ninth time in program history. Findlay punched its ticket to the Regional Semifinal after edging Wayne State University in Thursday's opening round of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional. The fifth-seeded Oilers delivered the day's third upset, outlasting the fourth-seeded Warriors in a thrilling five-set battle, 3–2 (23–25, 25–23, 22–25, 25–23, 15–13).
Findlay is averaging 14.68 kills per set, a mark that ranks sixth nationally in Division II. The Oilers also boast one of the nation's top hitting percentages at .276, the best in the Midwest. This season, they have produced three matches with a hitting percentage of .400 or higher and 14 matches at .300 or better.
Senior outside hitters Makenna Belcher and Lauren Foerster—both first-team all-conference selections and all-region honorees—continue their debut for the Orange and Black in the NCAA Tournament after missing last season, and they do so in elite form. Belcher has been a dynamic and consistent engine for Findlay's offense all year, totaling 384 kills (3.92 per set), the fourth-highest average in the Midwest Region, while hitting .276 and adding 2.38 digs per set. Foerster has been just as pivotal on the pin, delivering 3.11 kills per set on an efficient .334 hitting percentage along with 39 total blocks. She logged a season-high 22 kills against Rockhurst on Oct. 18 and posted five blocks at Tiffin on Oct. 3. Together, the senior duo forms one of the most balanced and productive outside-hitting tandems in the region.
Belcher elevated her game even further in last night's opening-round thriller, leading the Oilers to a five-set victory with one of the greatest NCAA Tournament performances in program history. The Marengo, Ohio native—recently named all-region by both the D2CCA and AVCA—hammered 28 kills while hitting .309, the second-most kills ever recorded by an Oiler in an NCAA Tournament match. She added 19 digs and two blocks to complete a dominant all-around outing. With Belcher playing at a historic level and Foerster providing steady, high-efficiency production on the opposite pin, Findlay enters the regional with a powerful, playoff-tested attack.
Findlay's middle hitter, senior Alana Pohlman, continues her second trip to the tournament after leading the Oilers to the Sweet Sixteen last season. Earning second-team all-conference honors, she is chipping in 2.48 kills per set on a .339 clip, the tenth-best in the region. The Oilers, who have faced challenges at the net, are anchored by Pohlman, who leads the team with 61 blocks on the season, averaging 0.64 per set.
Junior Hannah Miller made a seamless return to her outside hitter role after a brief stint as the team's libero, immediately boosting the Oilers' lineup. She delivered a season-high 24 kills on .279 hitting while also anchoring the back row with a team-leading 24 digs against Wayne State.
Senior Emma White, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Player of the Year, orchestrates the offense as one of the region's top setters. The recently appointed all-region selection, averages 11.86 assists per set, ranking third nationally, and has totaled 1,222 assists this season, placing her third in the region. White surpassed 5,000 career assists in the Great Midwest Semifinal, becoming just the third player in program history to reach the milestone. The Tiffin, Ohio native has recorded 16 double-doubles (assists and digs) this season. Also a threat at the service line, White is averaging 0.50 aces per set, the most of any player in the tournament. Defensively, she adds steady production with 2.67 digs per set and 275 on the year, making her a complete presence on the court.
The Oilers, making their second straight appearance in the NCAA Regional Semifinal, now square off against a surging Greyhound squad—one that entered the tournament with plenty of doubters but has quickly proven it belongs.
