Findlay Concludes PSU National Open with Strong Finish

State College, Pa.- The University of Findlay track and field teams wrapped up the final day at the Penn State National Open on Saturday Feb. 1st. After the long day of competition, the Oiler made out with several notable finishes.  

Notable Finishes 

Women 

  • Sophomore Leah Smith finished fourth in the 200m dash with a time of 24.52, meeting the NCAA Provisional Standard. 

  • Senior Jordan Taylor won the Invite section of the 200m dash with a time of 23.90. With this time Taylor beat her own record of 23.99 set in 2024. Taylor also met the NCAA Provisional Standard.   

  • The 4x400m relay team consisting of sophomore Mary Ellis, sophomore Leah Smith, senior Jordan Taylor, and senior Kylie Ray won with a time of 3:40.70. With this time, they met the NCAA Provisional Standard and crushed their previous record of 3:44.31 set in 2024.  

  • Junior Ashley Sigmon tied for ninth in the high jump with a jump of 1.60m  

Men 

  • Freshman Owen Ackerman tied for sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.98m  

  • Junior Eyan Wilson took seventh in the shot put with a mark of 16.71m meeting the NCAA Provisional Standard 

The Oilers will be back in action Friday Feb 7th as they head to Ashland, Ohio to compete in day one of the Jud Logan Light Giver Invite.
