Allendale, Mich./ Kent, Ohio/ Tiffin, Ohio- On Saturday, Feb. 15, the University of Findlay track and field teams split up to compete in three different meets. One group of Oilers took part in day two of the GVSU Big Meet, while another group wrapped up day two of the Doug Raymond Invitational. The final group of Oilers competed in The Robinson Family Open, hosted by Tiffin University. After a long day of competition, the Oilers came out with several notable finishes.  

Notable Finishes 

GVSU Big Meet 

Women's: 

• Senior Hailey Wilson finished fifth in the 800m run with a time of 2:17.11. 

• The distance medley relay team consisting of senior Hailey Wilson, senior Jordan Taylor, senior Kylie Ray, and sophomore Ella Webster took sixth with a time of 11:32.23. With this time, they hit the NCAA Provisional Standard and moved to #9 in the Division II indoor national rankings. They also broke the previous school record of 11:46.80 set in 2023 by Ava Beam, Kylie Ray, Hayley Robinett, and Reilly Cozette. 

Men's:  

• Senior Simon Derstine won the 800m run with a time of 1:50.80 meeting the NCAA Provisional Standard.  

• The distance medley relay team consisting of senor Simon Derstine, junior Sherron Jones, sophomore Jaxon Durfey, senior Jordan Foster won with a time of 9:41.39. With this time, they hit the NCAA Provisional Standard and advanced to #5 in the Division II indoor national rankings. This group of Oilers broke the old school record of 9:49.15 set in 2024 by Simon Derstine, Nick Rice, Landon Armstong, and Jordan Foster.  

Doug Raymond Invitational 

Women's: 

• Freshman Colleen Steinmetz won the pole vault with a mark of 3.94m. Sophomore Tru Buddenberg and sophomore Victoria Harvey tied for third with a mark of 3.79m. Steinmetz, Buddenberg and Harvey all hit the NCAA Provisional Standard. 

• Sophomore Mary Ellis finished third in the 400m dash with a time of 56.71 

Men's: 

• Sophomore Nate Buschur finished fifth in pole vault with a mark of 4.95m hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard.  

• Senior Omari Welch-Guytan finished fifth in triple jump with a mark of 14.21m. 

• Junior KJ Upshaw finished second in the 60m dash with a time of 6.92. 
   

The Robinson Family Open: 

Women's: 

• Senior Brooke Coulter finished third in the invite section of the shot put with a mark of 13.70m hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard. Junior Ava Kiefer took fifth with a mark of 12.37m and senior Kelsey Kennon finished sixth with a mark of 12.36m. 

• Senior Kelsey Kennon took third in the invite section of the weight throw with a mark of 16.85. Senior Brooke Coulter placed fourth with a mark of 16.28m and junior Ava Kiefer finished eighth with a mark of 13.64m.  

• Freshman Lena Roubinek won flight 2 of the shot put with a mark of 11.82m.  

Men's  

• Junior Eyan Wilson took second in the invite section of the shot put with a mark of 17.11m and Senior Hunter Tresnan-Rieghard finished fifth with a mark of 16.53. Both Wilson and Tresnan-Rieghard hit the NCAA Provisional Standard.  

• Junior Leyton Nossa took fourth in the invite section of the weight throw with a mark of 20.55 hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard.  

• Freshman Lucas Recker finished second in flight 2 of weight throw with a mark of 15.32m. Freshman Keyan Holston took third with a mark of 14.52m.  

The Oilers will be back in action Friday Feb. 21. as they play host for the Flag City Tune-Up.
