Track & Field Squads Earn Top Finishes at Conference Championships

Ashland, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams concluded the final day of the 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 1. The women's team secured a runner-up finish with 135.5 points, while the men's team placed third with 134.5 points.
Notable Finishes
Women
  • Sophomore Ella Webster finished fourth in the 1 mile run with a time of 4:54.95 hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard and setting a new school record. Webster would also take fifth in the 3000m run with a time of 10:10.60
  • Senior Kylie Ray clinched her first 400m dash G-MAC title with a time of 54.50 hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard. With this time Ray would set a new school beating her previous time of 54.78. Ray would also claim third in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.71 hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard. 
    • Sophomore Mary Ellis would claim fifth in the 400m with a time of 55.82 and senior Taylor Ivory took sixth with a time of 56.28. Both Ellis and Ivory would hit the NCAA Provisional Standard. 
  • Sophomore Leah Smith captured her first G-MAC title in the 60m dash with a time of 7.42, improving from her third place finish last year. Senior Jordan Taylor placed second with a time of 7.43. Both Smith and Taylor hit the NCAA Provisional Standard with their performances.
  • In the 200m dash, Jordan Taylor claimed the G-MAC title with a time of 23.64, establishing a new program record. Leah Smith took second place with a time of 23.98, while senior Kylie Ray finished seventh with a time of 24.54. All three Oilers met the NCAA Provisional Standard.
  • The 4x400m relay team consisting of sophomore Mary Ellis, sophomore Leah Smith, senior Jordan Taylor, and senior Kylie Ray would win the G-MAC title with a time of 3:38.21 hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard. This is the second consecutive title for the Oilers in this event. Their time marks a new school record and is currently the fastest time in Division II this season.
  • Junior Ashley Sigmon would finish third in high jump with a mark of 1.67m hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard. 
  • Junior Katelyn Heath would take fifth in the triple jump with a jump of 11.10m. 
  • Freshman Colleen Steinmetz would tie for second in the pole vault with a height of 3.88m hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard.
    • Sophomore Tru Buddenberg would tie for eighth with a mark of 3.73m hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard. 
Men 
  • Senior Jordan Foster would finish fourth in the 1 mile run with a time of 4:09.71 after finishing runner up last year.
  • Junior KJ Upshaw would take fourth in the 60m dash with a time of 6.83 hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard.
  • Senior Simon Derstine clinched third in the 800m run with a time of 1:49.90 hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard. 
  • Junior Sherron Jones would grab third in the 200m dash with a time of 21.51 hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard. 
  • Senior Noah Fisher would take third in the 3000m run with a time of 8:21.98 after winning this event last year. While senior Jordan Foster finished fourth with a time of 8:24.88.
  • The 4x400m relay team consisting of junior Sherron Jones, senior Hassan Sesay, senior Simon Derstine, and sophomore Brandon Richardson would take fourth with a time of 3:15.63 hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard. 
  • Senior Omari Welch-Guytan would finish runner up in the triple jump with a mark of 14.40m while senior Mondra Curry claimed third with a mark of 14.10m.
  • Junior Eyan Wilson took third in the shot put with a mark of 17.24m and senior Hunter Tresnan-Rieghard finished fourth with a mark of 16.74m. Both Oilers would hit the NCAA Provisional Standard. 
  • Senior Gabe Clement finished fifth in the Heptathlon with a score of 4795 hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard.

At the end of the meet, the Oilers added to their collection of accolades with the following awards.

The Oilers will now await their fate in the NCAA Division II National Championship selection process. The Championship takes place March 14 and 15 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
