Indianapolis, Ind.-The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams kicked off competition at the NCAA Division II National Championship, held at the Fall Creek Pavilion as part of the NCAA DII Festival in Indianapolis, Ind. The Oilers began competing on Thursday, March 13, the first of three days of events.
The Oilers kicked off competition in the women's 60m prelims, featuring sophomore
Leah Smith and senior
Jordan Taylor. Despite a strong season, the duo fell short of qualifying for the finals, where only the top two from each heat and the next two fastest times advanced. Smith placed sixth in heat three with a time of 7.46, finishing 10th overall, while Taylor took fifth in heat one, clocking 7.51 for 15th place overall.
Sophomore
Victoria Harvey, competing in her second straight championship, placed 18th in the pole vault with a mark of 3.77m.
Senior
Kylie Ray closed out the day's competition in the 400m prelims, securing a spot in the finals by finishing second in her heat and fourth overall with a time of 54.11. The final will take place on Saturday.
