Cedarville, Ohio | Raleigh, NC- The University of Findlay track and field teams split into two groups to kick off the outdoor season. A small group of Oilers wrapped up the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC state. Another group opened their season at the Cedarville Collegiate Outdoor meet hosted by Cedarville University. After a long day of competition, the Oilers had several notable finishes. Â

·               Senior Simon Derstine finished 20th in the 800m run with a time of 1:50.04. With this time Derstine hit the NCAA Provisional Standard. Senior Jordan Foster would also compete in the 800m run taking 93rd with a time of 1:53.17.Â

Top Results Women:Â
·               Senior Kelsey Kennon took third in the hammer throw with a mark of 51.32m. Senior Brooke Coulter would finish fourth with a mark of 49.32mÂ
·               Freshman Colleen Steinmetz finished second in pole vault with a mark of 3.79m. While sophomore Tru Buddenberg would tie for third also with a mark of 3.79m. Both Steinmetz and Buddenberg would hit the NCAA Provisional Standard. Â
·               Freshman Zanri Black would win the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:03.46. With this time Black would set a new meet record beating the previous record of 1:04.11 set by Shura Ermakov from Hillsdale in 2021. Â

·               Junior Eyan Wilson claimed third in the discus throw with a mark of 51.18m hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard. Wilson would also finish second in the shot put with a throw of 16.07m. Â
·               Senior Gabe Clement finished fourth in the javelin throw with a mark of 53.74m.Â
·               Senior Zac Belanich would take third in hammer throw with a mark of 53.02m.Â
·               Sophomore Nate Buschur won win pole vault with a mark of 5.11m hitting the NCAA Provisional Standard.Â
·               Sophomore Jaxen Durfey won the 1500m run with a time of 3:53.54.Â
·               Junior Sherron Jones finished fifth in the 400m dash with a time of 49.01.Â
·               Senior Hassan Sesay took fourth in the 100m dash with a time of 10.60 and junior KJ Upshaw finished fifth with a time of 10.65. Â
The Oilers will be back in action Friday Apr 4th as they travel to Cincinnati, Ohio to compete in day one of the Oliver Nikoloff Invite hosted by the University of Cincinnati. Â
