Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's tennis team, sitting at No. 6 in the country in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, took down the reigning Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) champion, the Tiffin Dragons, by a score of 4-1 on Saturday, March 29. It is the seventh consecutive win for the Oilers who now have a record of 12-2 on the year.
Findlay swept all three doubles matches to earn the first point of the contest.
A win at fourth singles by
Valentina Salek, who won 6-1, 6-3, put the Oilers in front 2-0. At third singles,
Elina Ivanova trailed 4-3 in both the first and second sets, but both times she rallied to win three consecutive games. She would win her match by a score of 6-4, 6-4.
After a defeat at first singles in a three-set match,
Polina Zaytseva, who lost her first set 6-1, came back to defeat her opponent 6-3 in the second set and 7-5 in the third. That victory clinched the win for the Oilers.
