Grand Rapids, MI, Muncie, Ind.- The University of Findlay track and field teams split into two groups to compete in day one of a pair of meets. The first group traveled to Muncie, Ind. for the We Fly Challenge hosted by Ball State University. The second group traveled to Grand Rapids, MI to compete in the Davenport Invitational hosted by Davenport University. The Oilers had a strong showing on day one recording several top finishes.  

Top Finishes 

We Fly Challenge: 

Women- 

• Freshman Stephanie Smith took 15th in high jump with a mark of 1.40m.  

• Junior Sydney Swan took sixth in javelin throw with a mark of 28.29m and freshman Stephanie Smith took 14th with a mark of 18.97m.  

Men-  

• Senior Shakur Payton won the high jump after a jump of 2.00m. Junior Trey Boblitt tied for third with a mark of 1.85m and freshman Evan Kreais finished fifth with a mark of 1.80m.  

• Freshman Camden St John finished sixth in javelin throw with a mark of 31.40m  

Davenport Invitational: 

Women- 

• Senior Brooke Coulter claimed third in the hammer throw with a mark of 49.55m, senior Kelsey Kennon took fourth with a mark of 48.99m. Junior Ava Kiefer finished 11th with a mark of 38.64m and freshman Lena Roubinek placed 18th with a mark of 32.85m.  

Men-  

• Junior Leyton Nossa claimed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 59.69m advancing to number nine in the NCAA Division II Rankings. With this throw Nossa also meets the NCAA Provisional Standard. Junior Collin Warner takes fifth with a mark of 54.08m, senior Zac Belanich finishes sixth with a mark of 51.58m, and freshman Keyan Holston finishes 15th with a mark of 36.44m.  

The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow April 12th as they take on day two of the We Fly Challenge and Davenport Invitational.
